Between the world of men and transcendent divinity there exists art. Art is the will to truth made physically manifest. It is more real then Reality. It is a dialogue triumphant over Time. – Andre Malraux

Eric Northman's Most Treasured Possessions

In the Fall of 2011 I discovered HBO tv series True Blood and The Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.  I fell in love with the relationship between Eric Northman and Sookie Stackhouse in the books and decided to create an illustration about them.  At this time I was also taking a Drawing I class and this became my final assignment.

Here is the original sketch:

Here is the current progress shot:

Gesture Figure Drawings

Gesture figure drawing is done with rapid quick lines for the purpose of capturing the inner/outer structure and basic proportions of an figure with varying volume and mass detail to give the impression of what the figure looks like. Typically they only take a minute or less to compose.  The figure drawings below are from live models that I did while in my Drawing I class.

Raguel the Watcher of Angels

This illustration is a first study for the archangel Raguel in a project I have in the works called "The Archangels and the Fallen Ones" which is inspired by Gustave DorĂ©'s illustrated novel of John Milton's, Paradise Lost

Raguelwhich means "friend of God" is one of the Seven Archangels as listed in the ancient Enoch writings.  Raguel is know to "take vengeance on the world of luminaries" or he is the one who watches over the good behavior of the angels.
