Between the world of men and transcendent divinity there exists art. Art is the will to truth made physically manifest. It is more real then Reality. It is a dialogue triumphant over Time. – Andre Malraux

Christy

This illustration is another tribute to one of my early influences,  Patrick Nagel.  I loved the challenge of seeing the world through Patrick's eyes and his style helped me to better understand both composition and anatomy.

This portrait is one of my favorite models in the 80's and 90's, Christy Turlington.

Ab Luci - Concept Painting

'Ab Luci' is Latin for "From Light".  This illustration was my first attempt at a large scale watercolor painting on cold press illustration board and it was a good learning experience for me, however, I am not happy with the results.

This painting is part of my triptych series Bellum Lucis et Umbrae (The Battle of Light and Shadow) and will be overhauled and painted in oil.

Here are the progress shots:

Michael Praed as Robin Hood of Sherwood

Michael Praed is the Hooded Man in this illustration inspired by the celebrated BBC series Robin of Sherwood (which starred Michael Praed as Robin Hood, Clive Mantle as Little John, Judi Trott as Maid Marion, Jeremy Bullock as Edward of Wickham, Mark Ryan as Nasir, and Nicholas Grace as The Sheriff of Nottingham).

Robin holds his legendary sword Albion, one of the mystical swords of Wayland.

Immortal Love

This illustration is the tenth image for my gothic vampire series, Red Death.  This image captures a beautiful female vampire exhilarated after feeding her bloodlust!

My favorite part about this piece was working on all the curls in her hair, one of my favorite things to draw.

Immortality

This illustration came from an assignment in my Commercial Art class.  I had to pick an idea and icon and come up with other expressions of that idea.

I chose the idea of immortality and the Ankh as its symbol.  My nine versions of immortality, as shown in the illustration below, are from left to right: Art, Christianity, The Fountain of Youth, Writing, Afterlife, Witchcraft, Film, Mythology, and Vampirism.
