Between the world of men and transcendent divinity there exists art. Art is the will to truth made physically manifest. It is more real then Reality. It is a dialogue triumphant over Time. – Andre Malraux

Electra

This illustration was created when a friend of mine had put together a Heroes RPG game and was looking for character art to use for the players and the villains.

It was a lot of fun tinkering with comic book style art and it gave me a chance to work with ink.  "Electra" was inspired by several comic books that I had read throughout the 80's and 90's.

It is interesting to look back at these illustrations and see the parts I still like about them and the parts that I would change

Paulina

This illustration was another tribute to one of my early influences,  Patrick Nagel.  It also was the first time I drew one in a large scale format.  I loved the challenge of seeing the world through Patrick's eyes and his style helped me to better understand both composition and anatomy.

This portrait is one of my favorite models in the 80's and 90's, Paulina Porizkova.

Gaia's Warrior

While I was working on my "Red Death" vampire illustration series and wanted to explore other gothic themes.  This idea was inspired by the White Wolf role-playing game, Werewolf: The Apocalypse.

This illustration is of a young man who was born into a tribe of werewolves and is preparing for his transformation under the light of the full moon.

This illustration was published in 1996 as an advertisement for the magazine Shapeshifter! by Stygian Vortex Publications.

Poseidon's Pride - Sketch

It is said that the striped body of the lion fish warns predators that it is dangerous and may be impaled by one of many poisonous spines.  Much like his smaller cousins this son of Poseidon is not to be trifled with and perhaps the reason he is the guardian of his father's underwater realm.

This illustration will be painted in oil on masonite panel.
