Between the world of men and transcendent divinity there exists art. Art is the will to truth made physically manifest. It is more real then Reality. It is a dialogue triumphant over Time. – Andre Malraux

Nick and Paulina

This illustration was another tribute to one of my early influences,  the artist Patrick Nagel.  It also was the first time I drew one in a large scale format.  I loved the challenge of seeing the world through Patrick's eyes and his style helped me to better understand both composition and anatomy.

This portrait is of two of my favorite models in the 80's and 90's, Nick Constantino and Paulina Porizkova.

Skeletons

While I was taking a photography class my instructor allowed me to go visit an art class down the hall and on one of those days the students where drawing sketches of the class skeleton.  Here are the results of my time in the room.

Rapture

This illustration was inspired by some of the sketches done by the old masters.  I love the look and feel of the old portraits that were done in charcoal or pastels, and I got the inspiration to create a piece that had the same feeling.

By working with sepia brown pencils on matching paper, I have achieved the look I wanted.  It was a lot of fun to do and I plan on doing more.

In Umbram - Sketch

'In Umbram' is Latin for "Into Shadow" and my finished illustration will depict a male demon wielding a spear with a conspiracy of ravens around him.  In the background there is a stained glass window scene of fire erupting out of the earth with a thunderstorm above hurling bolts of lightning.

This painting is part of my triptych series Bellum Lucis et Umbrae (The Battle of Light and Shadow) and will be painted in oil.

This portfolio, called "The Little Dragon", consists of six illustrations; three images of Bruce Lee (from The Green Hornet, Enter the Dragon, and a portrait) and three images of Brandon Lee (from The Crow, Rapid Fire, and a portrait).
