Between the world of men and transcendent divinity there exists art. Art is the will to truth made physically manifest. It is more real then Reality. It is a dialogue triumphant over Time. – Andre Malraux

Deep Waters

I originally started this mermaid illustration back in 1999 and finished it in 2002.  It proved to be a great exercise in using colored pencils and I enjoyed working on the "blue" card stock paper that forms the background.  This piece also gave me a chance to study ocean life in preparation for some other "merfolk" paintings that I have plans to do.

Distant Memories

This illustration portrays the isolation and loneliness of an immortal vampire who must live with the choices she has made, both good and bad, for eternity.

This image was an interior illustration for the Spring 2000 issue of Dreams of Decadence, a national newsstand publication.

Vampire the Masquerade: Gangrel

This illustration was done for a male vampire character of the Gangrel clan in the Camarilla faction of White Wolf's RPG, Vampire the Masquerade.  The chess piece is a symbol of his rank in the vampire society.

Martin L Gore of Depeche Mode

I have been a fan of of the British band Depeche Mode ever since I purchased the LP "People are People" back in 1984.  In the late 80's and early 90's I drew portraits of the band members and even illustrated some of their songs.  In 1991, I decided to draw my most ambitious portrait yet, one done on a scale of 18" x 24" and my subject was my favorite composer and songwriter, Martin Gore.  The result is the illustration you see below.

I had the opportunity to meet the band, Depeche Mode, in 1993 when I won front row tickets and a back stage pass to a concert they performed in Houston for the Songs of Faith and Devotion tour.  I brought the portrait below to the show along with some of those song illustrations I mentioned.  The band loved them and Martin kindly autographed his portrait for me (his signature is on the lower left).

Autumn of the Asrai

This illustration captures a beautiful fairy and her dragonfly friend basking in the afternoon sunshine amid the cattails. . I had always wanted to illustrate a fairy, and this was my first attempt to do so.

What is unique about this piece is that it was my second attempt to paint solely in watercolor.  The background didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it too, so I ended up coloring over it with color pencil.
