Between the world of men and transcendent divinity there exists art. Art is the will to truth made physically manifest. It is more real then Reality. It is a dialogue triumphant over Time. – Andre Malraux

Still Life Gesture Drawings

Gesture drawing is done in rapid quick lines for the purpose of capturing the inner/outer structure and basic proportions of an object with varying volume and mass detail to give the impression of what the object looks like. Typically they only take a minute or less to compose.  The drawings below are some samples that I did while in my Drawing I class.

Angel of Light

This illustration is part of a diptych set called "Darkness and Light".  I have always been fascinated by dichotomy and this set was meant to explore it.  I collaborated with artist Lee Seed and her illustration is title "Darkness" which depicted a male demon in shades of blue and grey.  My "Light" is his opposite, a female angel in sepia and brown.  The set was a lot of fun to do.

The Fall of Lucifer Morningstar

I was inspired to create this illustration by listening to Glen Danzig's album, Black Aria, by Neil Gaiman's character Lucifer in the Vertigo comic book Sandman, and by Gustave DorĂ©'s illustrated novel of John Milton's, Paradise Lost.

The Light-bringer and his third of the heavenly host have lost the Battle of Heaven.  Lucifer is seen standing defiantly outside of Heaven's Gates, proudly enduring the punishment inflicted upon him. He will never know the feeling of angel wings again.  However, as he said himself "Better to reign in Hell, than to serve in Heaven."
